Yes, it’s August. If you’re a football fan, this is certainly the most wonderful time of the year.
We can feel the excitement and enthusiasm building for “Friday Night Lights” at Davidson Field, home of our mighty Newport Harbor Sailors.
As predicted, there are ten games scheduled this year, over an 11-week season. More than 10 games in the season means a playoff run, and then anything can happen. For instance, last year (2021) the Sailors played fifteen (15) games (that’s not a typo) bringing home a CIF Section VI CIF Championship.
This year, “week zero” starts in Hawaii. Coach Lofthouse has the team staying at North Shore, Oahu, and getting ready for Friday night vs. Farrington High School.
