Game #1 at St. Paul High School is Friday Night August 18th
A few quick notes from Coach Lofthouse: “We are expecting a lot of 11 and 21 personnel – and even some 10.”
That’s coaching lingo for the Sailors should be in for a heavy dosage of running the football.
“They have a new head coach coming over from La Mirada so we don’t know exactly what to expect,” Says Coach Lofthouse. “We can look at what La Mirada ran last year and also we do have a scrimmage film this year, but you never know for sure.”
St. Paul’s High School is a private Catholic school in Santa Fe Springs. Travel time from NHHS is about 60 minutes.
Some fun trivia, and one of the greatest Tar Ball games of all time was in 1978 when the Sailors stunned the Swordsmen winning 10-7 in the first round of the playoffs, propelling the Tars to their second consecutive appearance in the semifinals.
