Newport Harbor Blows Open Game Early, Rolls Over Colony 45-14

In a commanding road win Friday night, the Newport Harbor Sailors smothered the Colony Titans 45-14 in Ontario, sending a strong message and breaking their road game drought in emphatic fashion.

Quarterback Jake Meer put on a clinic, completing 19 of 26 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. He also added 52 yards on the ground on just seven carries, including an 18-yard scamper, showing his dual-threat awesomeness. His effort also pushed him to a career-high passer rating of 148.9.

Harbor’s aerial attack spread the ball well—Shane McKibbin led all receivers with 110 yards and two scores, including a 65-yard bomb. Ryan Palmer also hauled in four catches, 56 yards, and two TDs. Wide contributions like this kept Colony’s defense guessing and off balance.

Though Newport Harbor’s run game wasn’t the story, it supplemented the passing attack well, totaling 113 rushing yards on 22 carries (≈5.1 yards per rush). Meer himself had the most ground yards, supported by Jonah Takamori’s 37-yard effort and others helping to chew up the clock.

On defense, the Sailors delivered key plays. Glenn Baranoski came up big with an interception returned for 37 yards. The defense tallied 66 total tackles, including about 4 tackles for loss, and applied enough pressure to keep the Titans’ offense from developing any rhythm.

Momentum was in Harbor’s favor from early on. By halftime, they led 35-7. The third quarter saw Harbor extend the lead further, with Baranoski adding a rushing touchdown. They sealed the deal in the fourth with a field goal, before Colony managed a late score.

With the win, Harbor improves to 2-3, now with their first win away from home. Colony falls to 2-3. Harbor now has a chance to build momentum as they prepare to take on Tesoro on the road on October 3.
