The Newport Harbor Sailors delivered a high-flying performance at home, cruising past the Lancaster Eagles 42–26 in a dominant non‑league victory.

The Sailors erupted in the opening quarter, capturing a commanding 21–0 lead and never letting up. 

First Half Highlights

  • Q1: Newport Harbor struck first with a 32-yard TD pass from Jake Meer to Jackson Stremick, followed by a spectacular 90-yard fumble-return TD by Ryder Godbold. They capped the frame with another Meer–Stremick connection from 10 yards out. 

  • Q2: Lancaster responded with a long 65-yard TD run by Michael Marsenich. But Meer found Owen Baldikowski for a late TD, giving the Sailors a commanding 28–6 lead at halftime. 

Second Half Momentum

  • Q3: Newport Harbor extended its lead as Glenn Baranoski punched in a 5-yard rushing TD to make it 35–6. Lancaster answered back with a passing TD from Marsenich to Jayson Wilson, trimming the gap to 35–12. 

  • Q4: The Eagles surged with a rushing TD and a successful two-point conversion, closing to 35–20. But the Sailors sealed the game with another Meer score—this time a 4-yard TD to Wyatt Wilson—solidifying a 42–20 cushion. Lancaster tacked on a late TD to finalize the score at 42–26. 

Game Story

Newport Harbor set the tone early with a quick-strike offense and a game-changing defensive take back from Godbold. Their ground game and aerial attack worked in tandem—keyed by Meer’s precision throwing and balanced backfield execution. Lancaster showed flashes of life with long-ball touchdowns and a relentless drive, but ultimately couldn’t overcome the Sailors’ explosive start.

Season Update

With the win, the Sailors improve to 1–1 overall, bouncing back after their week one setback. Meanwhile, Lancaster falls to 0–2, having now surrendered over 60 points in their first two games.
